Terms of Service

You must be at least 13 years old to use Gathered. You are responsible for your account and for the content you share. Use the Service in a way that is lawful and consistent with our community guidelines and Christian values.

Gathered is open to users of all ages, including minors. When you create an account, we show you a warning that says so and ask you to acknowledge it before your account is created. You cannot complete sign-up without doing so.

Before your account is created, you are shown and must actively agree to the following:

Gathered is a Christian community platform that may include users of all ages, including minors. By creating an account you acknowledge this and agree that posting sexual, pornographic, or harmful content is strictly prohibited and may be reported to law enforcement.

Tapping “I Understand & Agree” is a knowing acceptance of these Terms, including this section and Section 5 below. We record that acknowledgment with your account: your user ID, the date and time, and the exact wording you were shown. We keep that record so that, if content you post is later found to be illegal, there is no question that you were told minors use this platform and agreed not to post such content.

If we revise this warning, we record the new wording as a separate version. Your record continues to reflect the text you actually agreed to, not any later revision.

You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant Gathered a limited license to display and distribute that content within the Service so it can function as intended. We do not sell your content or your data.

You agree not to post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or that violates the rights of others. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms or our community guidelines.

Some content is not merely against our rules but against the law. This section sets out what we do about it, and it applies whether or not we have removed the content or acted on your account.

We may preserve evidence. Where we believe in good faith that content or account activity is or may be evidence of a crime, we reserve the right to preserve it — including the content itself, associated media, account and profile information, timestamps, IP addresses, and your signup acknowledgment record — even after you delete it, and even after you delete your account. We may retain that material for as long as necessary to comply with the law, to respond to legal process, or to cooperate with an investigation. Deleting content or your account does not require us to destroy preserved evidence.

We may report illegal content to law enforcement. We reserve the right to report content and the account behind it to law enforcement and other appropriate authorities, and to respond to subpoenas, warrants, and other lawful requests. We may do this without notifying you first, and in some cases the law forbids us from notifying you at all.

Child sexual abuse material is reported to NCMEC. Gathered is required by United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) to report apparent child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through the CyberTipline, and to preserve the associated material and account information for the period the law requires. This is a legal obligation, not a discretionary policy: we cannot decline to make such a report, and we will not. Accounts involved are permanently banned.

You acknowledged at signup that posting sexual, pornographic, or harmful content on a platform that includes minors is strictly prohibited and may be reported to law enforcement (Section 2). That acknowledgment, with its timestamp and exact wording, may be produced as evidence that you were on notice.

If you encounter content that sexualizes or endangers a child, report it in the app and email us immediately at support@gatheredpbc.com. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

We may warn, suspend, or permanently ban an account that violates these Terms or our community guidelines. If your account is banned, you may not create a new account to circumvent that ban, and you may not help another banned person do so.

To enforce bans and protect the community from abuse, you agree that we may use a limited device signal to recognize a device associated with a banned account, and may refuse or remove accounts created from it. On iPhone and iPad this uses Apple's DeviceCheck, which tells us only whether a device has been flagged and gives us no device identifier; on Android we may store a device identifier for banned accounts. We use these signals only for ban enforcement and platform security — never for advertising, tracking, or personalization. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Attempting to evade, spoof, or interfere with these protections is itself a violation of these Terms.

Paid plans (Pro and the Church Plan) and fundraiser donations are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Platform fees, where applicable, are disclosed at the point of transaction. Donations made through Gathered are not tax-deductible.

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gathered Corporation is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
